Crazy heart

I’m so confused, the lovely Brummie I met last week has bewitched me, and luckily I seem to have done the same to him. We have been calling, texting and sending pictures all week. He makes me feel all funny weird, like butterfly’s in my stomach just thinking about him. This is so strange and it reminds me how I felt when I first met my ex seven years ago.

But the path of possible true love doesn’t run smooth – my accountant has also declared his strong feelings for me and I honestly like him as well, he is a safe bet for a future boyfriend and he makes me smile so much, but the Brummie is well sexier.

I have such low self esteem that part of me is so flattered to have someone like the Brummie fancy me let alone making me feel all crazy inside. I've even cancelled dates with Jim-Bow and "nice banker" this week due to the Brummie giving me a crazy feeling.

I know that there is distance between me and the Brummie, so is it doomed to fail before it begins? Is my London accountant a safer bet? I’m not seeing the Brummie until the end of the month when we will spend three days getting to know each other, so we will see if these feeling continue or just turn out to be trapped wind lol.

Loud and proud

It is just under two day until London Pride and guess what I'm going to be on a float.  To add sprinkles on top of that announcement because I'm semi dating the accountant, who is a one of the directors of Pride I'm also getting an Access All Areas pass for the Trafalgar Square event and the post pride party at Koko.

Who says it doesn't pay to be pretty and friendly, plus accountant and I might actually get round to having sex.  Win Win all round.

The first speed dating date

Well I mentioned I'd been speed dating and that it was a fun night - well last Tuesday I went on my first date from the pool of four interested candidates.

It was with a guy called Keith who works in marketing, but he lives in Leeds (a neck of the UK I am more than familiar with) but works in London - one hell of a commute.

Anyway he was 33 and looked fairly handsome.  We met in Balans for dinner to which he was 10 minutes late.  I wasn't complaining as I've started back at the gym since my op and in just a week my pecs are pumped.  I decided to wear a deep v-neck to show my assets off.  This didn't go un-appreciated as a guy two tables away was just staring at me all night and even followed me down to the toilet, but he didn't have the balls to chat to me.  His loss!

Anyway conversation was easy with Keith, I asked if he'd had any work done as his forehead didn't move and his lips were extremely full for a white man.  He assured me that despite his uncle being a plastic surgeon, he remained untouched - I didn't buy that either. I confessed all my work in progress and he was please by my honesty.

Talking of honesty I found out that despite being 33 and deciding he was gay at the age of 24 he's still not come out to his 40 year brother or 80 year old mum - a bit worrying if you are trying to come across as an honest guy?

After a nice dinner that lasted a good two hours due to chat we went to the Yard for a drink.  It was obvious from the body language he was into me so we kissed and it wasn't disappointing.

As I was trying to come across innocent I wasn't putting out on the first date, but Keith did ask me how I felt tonight had went.  I told him I wasn't looking for an instant boyfriend but wanted to get to know someone and I felt we got on well and would like to get to know him better.  I also stated a second date was a must, he agreed on all points.  Another horse to my stable.

He walked me to the tube and we parted ways with a promise to hook up in a weeks time.  Being me when I got off the tube I sent him a text thanking him for a good night and reaffirmed my interest and hope for a second date.

I was shocked and insulted the next day when I'd not had a reply.  It just shows you some men are full of shit.  Still my next speed dating date is lined up for Friday so I can't complain.

Tick tock..times up

Last week I tried speed dating, the awkward part was I did it with my ex. It was all part of me trying to get him to be more social. I guess I’ve felt a little guilty that I’ve taken to being single like a duck to water and my ex has been a bit slow on the up take, so speed dating seemed like the perfect opportunity to meet a lot of single guys.

The event was run by Village Drinks, who are a social networking site for gay professionals and there were 50 single guy’s at this event. As my ex and I were early we managed to secure places sitting down rather than one of the people who move from table to table.

Neither of us had been speed dating before so didn’t really know what to expect. Firstly three minutes was hardly enough time to chat to anyone and decide whether you want to see them again, there was far too much paper work to do within that time and all in all I felt like I was Alan Sugar interviewing for possible dates.

There was a good array of vocations ranging from HR, self employed, bankers and fund raisers and I found that as the night went on, the more wine I drank the more open I was to ticking the yes box for further dates. I also neglected to tell my potential dates I was here with my ex, which in one case had funny repercussion for one suitor.

Basically the way it was set up meant that after I had seen a guy they went to the next table which my ex sat at. One guy complained to my ex that I had talked about myself for the whole 3 minutes. My ex told him we were friends and the guy was highly embarrassed, then we both marked him down as a no.

It was an enjoyable night and we both had a good laugh, the following day we got our results back and only one person wanted to date my ex, while I had four interested guys. I’ve already arranged dates with two of them for this week so watch this space for an update.

When two world's collide

Last weekend I went to see Lady Gaga again – I must say the concert had been highly polished since I saw her in Feb and was totally amazing. Anyway I had a spare ticket so didn’t know who to ask. As I’ve been spending a bit of time with Matta I asked him but it turned out he was going with a friend on the same night. Great I though then we can hook up in the concert.

As I’ve also been seeing a bit of Jim-Bow, he has a good coke dealer and we’ve been having some normal dinner and drinks dates and some chem'd sex sessions. So I though I’d see if he wanted to go, which as it turned out was good as he had friends down from Wales who were attending. So I get round to his on bank holiday Monday and we factor in some time before his friends arrive for a good sex session. After that I’m chatting and told him my friend Matta was also going and I was possibly meeting him in the O2 arena. Jim-Bow then asks if Matta is an Italian hairdresser, which I confirm. It only turns out that Jim-Bow and Matta have liaised a few times in the past. Awkward!

I make out to Jim-Bow that I’ve know Matta for a while and he is nothing more than a friend. I get away with this as Matta works across the road from my favourite gay bar so it’s quite conceivable that we know each other. Anyway I know have to manage how I let Matta see me with Jim-Bow in light of this new information, who knew juggle shag buddies would be so hard.

I decide to text Matta and tell him that he knows my good friend Jim-Bow, and as Jim-Bow sings in a choir I make out that I used to sing in the same choir and that’s how we know each other.

Anyway once we get to the O2 Arena I call Matta to say I’m hear, it turns out he was standing five foot away and is shocked to see me with James. He immediately says he’s going to hang with his friend and he’ll call me after the concert to meet up. Jim-Bow had already stated I couldn’t stop over as his friends from Wales were staying over. I was cool with that as I’d already had sex with him earlier in the day.

Jim-Bow was a bit of a damp squid at the Lady Gaga concert and refused to dance, I ended up dancing the night away with two cute American girls, who despite them knowing I was gay insisted in bumping and grinding me provocatively. After the concert there was a mad rush to leave and so I ended up travelling on the tube with Jim-Bow but to my amazement when we got to Stratford Matta was waiting for me.

Jim-Bow said good by and I got away with a quick kiss on the lips- then Matta went off to the off licences for some booze and had a wild night shagging before falling asleep. I had a nice night cuddling Matta and we sent most of Tuesday together which was nice, I’m getting a little soft spot for him and his cocky Italian manner.

In the begining.....

Well a little history first - three weeks ago I was happily in my long term relationship of seven years. Yes there were cracks, what relationship that lasts that long doesn't. If we were straight we would of had kids and the focus would have been on them and not the sexless routine we'd become accustomed to.

Then, wham, bam and out of the blue we both decided that we are not making each other totally happy as a couple and separate. We are still friends and due to the two properties we jointly own are being amicable.

We are still living together, in three weeks we've moved from being a couple sharing a bed to becoming housemate living in separate rooms.

This is the story of my journey getting to grips with being a 30something gay singleton.
